The Grand Navy by Bob

Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men. It is the spirit of the men who follow and of the man who leads that gains that victory.
George S. Patton

John Campbell races along the corridors of the GNS Atlantis, heading towards the bridge. The shrill alarms and the flashing red lights push him as he runs on.
Attention! All necessary personal report to the bridge, we are being boarded. This is not a drill, this is not a drill. I repeat, all necessary personal report to the bridge, we are being boarded. This is not a drill, this is not a drill.
Past the crew quarters where the last gunners are struggling to get out, he runs past the archway, which houses the blast doors.
“Kind of late, Ensign?” comments the Lieutenant.
“Sorry sir, couldn’t help it,” he replies.
“Just get to your station.”
“Yes sir.”

Rear Admiral Wellington is perching on the battle station staring consciously at the little ships surrounding the planet Ypres. The tactical display of the ship dominates most of the overhead screen.
“Sir?” questions a Captain.
“Yes?”
“The enemy has breached.”
“Do you have your Magnum?”
“Yes.”
“Then use it.”
