After this, we all agreed to go up to my room and choose a game to play. Although I had cleaned my room especially for the occasion and the only thing out of place was a book, I wanted to play my part well so I cried out,

“Oh what a mess!” I immediately put the book on the shelf and then went over to straighten the quilt on the bed. After closing the closet door, I turned to them, ready to play a game. Sarah suggested Candy Land but Abby wanted to play Bible Trivia. Then Justin suggested Scene It which everyone else agreed on except for me. As for me, I didn’t want to play any of them and so, because I was the birthday girl, we decided we would just find something else to do. It was Abby who suggested leapfrog and we all agreed on it. When we were deciding what the teams would be, I saw Abby coming toward me and, in a panic because I didn’t want to be on her team, I cried out,

“No! I-I mean J-Justin! Want to be on a team?” Startled, Justin agreed and so Sarah and Abby were on a team against us. Sarah and I were in front so Justin and Abby would be jumping over us first. I curled into a little ball and just a second later, I felt Justin’s hands on my back and then he was in front of me. As soon as his hands left me, I jumped up and over him and then I was curled up again in front of him. After just a few more times of this, we made it to the wall and saw that Abby and Sarah were still on their last leap. We were the winners. When Abby and Sarah stood up, I smiled smugly at Abby and said ‘nice try’. Justin and I hi-fived and Abby cried out ‘Again!’ She probably wants to win desperately so she can get the attention focused back to her, I thought. But nevertheless, I agreed to another game. This time, still avoiding Abby, I asked Sarah to be on my team and she agreed. Justin and I were both in the back so we were going to be jumping first. As soon as Sarah was curled in a ball, I leapt up, pushed off her by putting my hands on her back and as soon as I was once again on the ground, I curled up so Sarah could leap over me. We were at the wall very quickly but only to find that Abby and Justin had already made it. Then, to my horror, Justin and Abby hi-fived and Sarah went over and clapped her on the back leaving me standing there and looking stupid. Then, I suggested that we all go down for dinner, but they were all too busy crowding around Abby that no one heard. However, the second they heard Sarah’s stomach rumble, Abby asked us all if we wanted to go down to dinner and we all agreed.
